MEMBERSHIP LEVELS
Active Membership-$75 annually
Requirements: Active member shall be a person who is actively engaged in the management/supervision of criminal justice records. Managers/Supervisors shall perform any or all of the following functions; (a) write and deliver evaluations, (b) recommend and/or deliver discipline, (c) be designated the custodian of records, and (d) other supervisory duties as assigned.
Rights: Only active members shall be eligible to vote and hold office. Interim/acting managers/supervisors shall not be considered active members unless approved by the chapter to which they have applied.
Associate Membership-$50 annually
Requirements: Associate members shall be limited to non-management/non-supervisory personnel employed by criminal justice agencies that deal with or have a vested interest in criminal justice records.
Rights: Associate members shall have no voting rights.
Corporate Chapter Membership-$100 annually
Requirements: Corporation members can be provided to Corporations that actively supply a service, whether through product or training, and may be invited to become a Corporate Chapter Member at the Chapter level.
Rights: Corporate members shall not hold an office or have any voting privileges.
Honorary Lifetime Membership
Requirements: Honorary Lifetime members may be awarded to individuals who have provided exceptional service to CLEARS at either the State Executive or Chapter level.
Rights: Lifetime members shall have no voting rights and shall not be subject to dues. If a said member attends a meeting held by an unassociated chapter, they shall follow the bylaws associated with that chapter. (ie, chapter meeting fees)

Chapters
The organization of the association is by Chapters, determined by the counties of the State of California.
Border, Central, Central Coast, Northern, and Southern.

Northern Chapter: Sonoma, Napa, Yolo, Marin, Solano, Contra Costa, San Joaquin, Amador, Calaveras, Alpine, Alameda, Santa Clara, San Benito, Monterey, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Del Norte, Siskiyou, Modoc, Humboldt, Trinity, Shasta, Lassen, Tehama, Plumas, Mendocino, Glenn, Butte, Lake, Colusa, Sutter, Yuba, Sierra, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, and El Dorado
Central Chapter: Stanislaus, Tuolumne, Mono, Merced, Mariposa, Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare, Inyo, Kern
Central Coast Chapter: San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura
Southern Chapter: Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino
Border Chapter: San Diego, Imperial, Riverside

Chapters shall be arranged in three regional groups based on the current Chapter's geographical boundaries.
Region 1: Northern Chapter

CLEARS provides a forum for research and exchanging ideas and knowledge with other law enforcement and criminal justice members throughout California. We have an opportunity to collectively influence legislation that impacts you and your job in records management. You may attend monthly training and board meetings where you have a chance to exchange your knowledge and ideas with other law enforcement personnel. Additionally, CLEARS provides an Annual Training Seminar which is held in the fall each year. Also, you will receive the California Police Recorder (CPR), a quarterly electronic magazine!

MEMBERSHIP DUES
Membership renewals are due every January, your application and payment will ensure your contact information on the State Membership Roster.
*DUES MUST BE PAID BY JUNE 30 TO RECEIVE THE MEMBER REGISTRATION PRICE FOR THE CLEARS TRAINING & TECHNOLOGY SEMINAR
New members can join at any time.
Membership dues are not tax deductible as charitable contributions.
Active membership consists of supervisory or managerial personnel responsible for law enforcement records and any person who supervised any support function of law enforcement records keeping and their assistants.
Associate membership is limited to persons employed in law enforcement-related professions, excluding vendors who have an interest in the CLEARS organization and support its goals.
Lifetime membership is awarded to individuals who have provided exceptional service to CLEARS at the State or Chapter level.
Corporations that actively supply a service, whether through product or training may be invited to become a corporate/commercial member at the chapter level
